Welcome to our Gallery!

All of the work featured in this online exhibition has been created by children and young adults from The School of African Cultures, in partnership with PACHEDU Charity in Renfrewshire who have been taking part in the ‘Museum of Me’ partnership project with the Creative Learning Team at Paisley Museum.

Over the course of the 3 month online digital project the children have been investigating Paisley Museum’s collections and researching the lives of key historical figures including John Edmonstone, Mary Jane Seacole and Peter Burnet (known throughout Paisley as ‘Black Peter’) reflecting on their lives and identities using a variety of creative skills including poetry, music, dance and mixed media art techniques.

Through this historical lens the children were able to explore the core theme of identity and what it means to be African and Scottish living in Renfrewshire in 2020.

All the work created during the project has culminated in this online exhibition showcased in October 2020 celebrating Black History Month.
